About Seedcamp
Seedcamp is a programme created to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community in Europe, and now Africa, by connecting next generation developers and entrepreneurs with over 400 mentors from a top-tier network of company builders; including seed investors, serial entrepreneurs, product experts, HR and PR specialists, marketers, lawyers, recruiters, journalists and venture capitalists.
Seedcamp acts as a micro seed fund to invest in startup companies, mainly through our flagship event Seedcamp Week which takes place in September every year. To make sure we are honing in on all the new startup talent, we also run Mini Seedcamp programmes throughout several startup hubs around Europe, and now Africa, from January-June. Seedcamp’s standard investment is €30-50k. Following Seedcamp Week, the companies who receive investment stay in London for 3 months to grow and develop their company, building key and lasting business relationships along the way to help them sustain a viable business.
The intention of this mini-SeedCamp at TECH4AFRICA is to offer the opportunity, if the winner is good enough, to attend SeedCamp week in London.
Please note that there will be many other local investors present on the SeedCamp day, so apart from the SeedCamp week opportunity, startups will also gain exposure to local investors.

The following is a list of questions which must be answered when submitting your application:
Individual Questions
- What is your company name?
- Where is your company located?
- Applicant Name
- Current location (city, country)
- Education and work history (briefly!)

- Tell us about your completed projects
- Give us an impressive fact about yourself
Team Questions
- What are you creating?
- How will you make money? What's your business model?
- What gives you an unfair advantage and how will you sustain it?
- Why is this team the right one for this company?
- We are really impressed by teams that get stuff done. Please provide a URL (with login details if necessary) to a prototype of your product, or failing that to a video of a prototype of your product.
- To date, what specific progress have you made in building your product/company (e.g. development milestones, feature additions, customer sign-ups, etc.)?
- Who are your main current or potential competitors as well as identified potential new entrants?
- How will you succeed versus your competitors?
- Planning for the worst is a key to great success. Think hard: what might go wrong? How can you minimize those risks?
- What do you hope to get out of the Seedcamp experience?
- If you are incorporated (as a company): who owns what, and what is the detailed funding history? If you are not yet incorporated: who will own what percentage of the company?
- Does any founder have a conflicting future commitment? If so, what? Are any of you involved in other projects?
- Does any actual or potential legal restriction or limitation apply to any team member which we should know about (e.g., non-disclosure, non-compete)?
- Apart from open source software, was any of your code written by anyone not on the team?
- Let us say you have 15 seconds to pitch your business. Please describe your business.

Apply to SeedCamp
Applications open on the 5th July, and close on the 26th July. Judging will then take place, with teams notified around 2-6th August. Places will be limited to 10 startups.
